INTERNATIONAL WELDING INSPECTOR /IWI/

International Welding Inspectors (IWI) utilize their extensive knowledge of welding processes, testing methods, materials, qualifications, and standards to ensure that welded products and related activities meet all applicable quality and safety criteria. The role of the welding inspector is crucial for the safety and integrity of a vast number of industrial structures and equipment, infrastructure projects, vehicles and machinery, and consumer products.

ESSENCE OF THE COURSES

The training is divided into two main modules: Technological (TM) and Inspection (IM). The courses are standard, according to the requirements of the International Training Program IAB 041r3-08 (IAB is the joint training body of IIW and EWF). The final exam is organized by the BWQC, which has the authority to issue an internationally recognized diploma valid in all IIW and EWF member countries upon successful completion. The training and qualification of the candidates cover the following three categories:

  • Higher Category IWI-C – totaling 219 training hours;
  • Standard Category IWI-S – totaling 157 training hours;
  • Basic Category IWI-B – totaling 105 training hours;

COURSE FORMAT

 

  • Modular (technological module and inspection module);
  • The courses are planned with partial detachment from the trainees' production duties, with a weekly workload of 20-25 training hours, scheduled from Thursday to Saturday;
  • The schedule of the training sessions is announced in advance, and once the course is formed, it is finalized and agreed upon with the instructors and trainees.

CONDITIONS FOR ACCESS TO THE COURSES

 

  • For category IWI-C: Diploma of higher engineering education in the field of mechanical engineering;
  • For category IWI-S: Diploma of secondary vocational education in the field of mechanical engineering and a certificate of 2 years of work experience in this field;
  • For category IWI-B: Diploma of secondary education and professional experience in the field of metalworking.

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR CANDIDATES

Holders of IIW/EWF diplomas can directly join the Inspection module:

  • For category IWI-C – it is required to hold an IWE, IWT / EWE, EWT diploma;
  • For category IWI-S – it is required to hold an IWS / EWS diploma;
  • Skipping the training for the Technological module – requires permission from BWQC / NEKSAS ACADEMY, which must be agreed upon in writing, considering the potential risks for the candidate.
